Genres - Important?

I think the genre is kind of important for the movies, it can both help and not help the film sellers. I often try to look out for the genre when I'm choosing a movie to watch. Do you choose movie out of the genre? And what genre do you pick the most?

-Action
-Horror
-Comedy
